Leica Scope: ER Riflescope

A German optic, headquarters based in U.S, Leica is the manufacturer of optics over a hundred years. In the mid 90s Leica introduced its Televid 77. For the first time in optic world, a rugged, big and high-performance spotting scope with dual focus system was introduced. Leica have always been known for their spotting scopes, binoculars, rangefinders and riflescopes. Now, Leica have introduced a riflescope with IBS reticle which is a 30mm tube with an eye relief of 3 15/16 inches making it a riflescope with heavy recoil.

IBS Reticle Helps in Longer Ranges:
IBS ballistic calculator will give you a detailed description of longer ranges. Some basic information about the ballistics and the area where you set up your scope and range time is all you need. The items that are necessary for your hunting experience is a factory load data or ballistic coefficient, altitude, temperature, zero range, muzzle velocity and scope height. After the data has been stored for future use you can print the data for each specific hash mark and tape it on your rifle’s side. These scopes are second focal scope so you have to set the power at which you will print your sheet for the exact hash marks.

Regardless of the magnification settings at zero range your main cross hairs will be correct. These scopes have asset that doped the wind at extended ranges as these have come with windage hash marks. But before using it you must have some practice to be accurate at longer ranges.
By taking hours of range time long range shooting is possible but doing preparation before the real hunting is recommended. Leica have provided a deadly combination of ER riflescope scope with IBS reticle.

Some Advantageous Features of ER Riflescope
Lecia has a great line of scopes that has some great features that you didn’t find on any other riflescope. To prevent fogging it is nitrogen-filled and water-resistant to 13ft. To repel water and dirt all lenses have AquaDura coatings. Leica ER riflescope comes in two different models both have 45mm objective lens they have a power from 2.5 to 10 and 3.5 to 14. Partnered with ballistic experts at G7 Leica provide the configuration of IBS reticle. You can browse through Leica’s website to know more about this. If you create an account with Leica scope or visit as a guest you will definitely fill your shopping cart with at least one product.

Leica Rangemaster - LRF 1200

Laser rangefinders are always a beneficial tool for hunters and shooters. One of the top laser rangefinders in the market today is Leica LRF 1200 Rangemaster. Leica rangemaster have always been considered as a good and one of the standard products. However, Leica LRF is the most expensive LRF in the market; Leica was the first to offer a rangefinder with a capability of 1200 yards. It is compact, with a height of 4.75” long that weighs less than even a pound. LRF 1200 precision measurements are accurate up to 1200yards to 1097 meters.

Features and Advantages:

It has the accuracy of +/-1y up to 436 yards and +/-2y from 436y to 874y and +/-0.5% if anything goes up to 874y. This is the accuracy that one will never get in any product. It also has the ability to range two targets at a time. Leica LRF 1200 comes in a very nice carrying case with a strap so that you can sling it around your neck. It has a 2 year warranty that requires a 9volt battery. It takes spot-on measurement as it has 7x magnifications. It has many advantages that actually preferable for hunters, surveyors or golfers. It gives support even in the most unfavorable weather condition such as bright sunshine, rain, etc.

With Leica LRF 800 rangemaster the measurement process is quicker and its sets standard in the market as a good laser rangefinder. Later the Leica LRF 1200 rangemaster came which is a result of Leica’s consistent effort to develop and offer an even more advanced product to its user. The new Leica LRF 1200 rangemaster operates on a single button. It works in poor visibility and even in twilight as it activates through a push of a button. After targeting the subject another push of a button can measure the distance. There is a slight pause after which it displays the range, below the square reticle.

Moreover, it has the ability to display the range both in yards and meters and if it fails to display the range then it will display three dashes. The square reticule of it is also very simple and easy to understand. Leica always uses a good optics and these also in the case of LRF 1200, its optics are very good and clear. The measurement is done with an eye-safer laser beam that is invisible. The measurement works well in the range of up to 400m. Within a fraction of a second the laser beams travels from the rangemaster to the target, reflects and travels back and calculate the distance accurately. The distance is then displayed on the LED in the target optics.

Some other interesting feature of Leica LRF 1200 rangemaster is that it has a large field of view; it also offers diopter compensation which is suitable to an eyeglass wearer. It is sturdy, with an easy grip rubber designed especially for tough conditions. It is water-resistant and weighs only 320 grams, compact and lightweight.

The Three Generation Of Leica CRF

Most optics companies do not offer a maximum distance value that is applicable in the practical environment. However, Leica offers a maximum distance value that a regular person can easily use. Many companies advertise and promise to offer a rangefinder with a 1000 yards field of view. But in real world it gives only 400 yards view. But Leica on the other hand give 1200 yards field of view if you buy 1200 yard Leica. The last three generations of rangefinders from Leica have been built all with same chassis through this they improved their reputation as the manufacturer of rangefinders.

Leica Units break down: by Generation
When you have decided to buy any Leica CRF rangefinder you must consider some facts before buying. There are three generations of Leica CRF rangefinder and there break down is like this.

First Generation of Leica CRF 900 and 1200
Whether you choose a Yardage model or Metric model both measures only direct distances. However, no ballistic or incline compensation is there. It is true that both of them are one of the fastest and reliable products on the market.

Second Generation of Leica CRF 800 and 1600
With an improved substantial range these allows switching between yards and meters. Leica’s 1600 model also have some extra applications such as barometer, temperature reader and inclinometer.

Third Generation of Lecia CRF 1000 and 1600 B
With an advantageous and advance technology these two have something that other rangefinders don’t have. In this unit of Leica the ballistic engine proves a victory over others. When Leica 1600 B CRF entered the market it became the favorite of professional hunters. It is faster, smaller and brighter in display than the other, while having an equal price. It is specially designed for ambitious sportsmen and F-class shooters.
1600 B is the pinnacle for rangefinding technology.

All of these units are easy to maintain, sleekly built and comes with a long battery life. Unlike other rangefinders Leica will range your target accurately and quickly. The price tag is also not very high that one can’t afford however, the quality is something that you will never forget.
